NFTは未だ得体の知れない新しい技術ですが、目を疑うような高値で取引されたり、所有を確かなものとする一意性を謳いながら盗難が起きたり、多くの作家や企業がこれまでになかったおかしな活動を始めるようになったりと話題に欠きません。そして、それらは現在なお加速しています。
そうした日々のニュースの賑わいとは対照的に、実際にNFTとはどのような技術で何を実現するものなのかを、包括的に説明することはとても難しいと言えるでしょう。人によって、その見え方や捉え方が極端に異なってきています。
逆説的に、そのとらえどころの無さや、混乱、未成熟な議論こそが、NFTの「アート」性を醸成し、表現の主題たりえることを暗示しているかのように思えます。
本展では、NFTを（投機目的の）画像データを売る仕組みとして利用するのではなく、NFTを固有の技術・メディウムとして捉え、洞察する中で制作された作品を紹介します。それぞれの作家は、画一的な目線に終始せず（ときには批判的に捉えながら）、NFTとは何であるのか、その表層の奥にある特性を見つめ、様々なアイディアを織り込んだ作品を提示します。
What are your thoughts on NFTs?
NFTs are still a mysterious new technology, but they are traded at eye-popping high prices, stolen while claiming uniqueness to ensure ownership, and many artists and companies are starting strange activities that have never seen before. There is no shortage of topics.
It can be said that it is very difficult to comprehensively explain what is NFT in contrast to the liveliness of such daily news. The way people see and perceive it is extremely different.
Paradoxically, its elusiveness, confusion, and immature debate seem to imply that NFT's potentially a subject for "art".
In this exhibition, instead of using NFT as a mechanism for selling image data, we will introduce works created through insight into NFT as a unique medium. Each artist observes the characteristics behind the surface of the medium and presents their various ideas and works.
